Pilates was created in the 1920's by Joseph Pilates for the purposes of rehabilitation. Mr Pilates worked with soldiers returning from war while they were in hospital to improve their physical strength and rehabilitation. Years later he moved to New York and began working with dancers improving their strength and flexibility helping them recover from injury.
Today Pilates offers the same benefits to everyone who practices it regularly:
