Jade Smith, BSc, DClinPsy
I'm a Clinical Psychologist and am trained to support people across the life span and ability range. I have over 10 years experience working in a wide range of services across the NHS including adult therapeutic services, learning disability services, child and adolescent mental health services and paediatric health settings.
I work to get to know the client and together we collaboratively develop an understanding of the issues they hope to resolve or make space for. This might include things like: Anxiety/ panic, Low mood/ depression, Grief, Trauma, Adjustment and coping with life events and illness, Emotional/ Social and Behavioural needs, Family relationships
I am trained in a range of therapies and draw upon a wide range of specialist psychological theory and skills to suit the client's needs. These include but are not limited to:
Acceptance Commitment Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Compassion Focused Therapy
Often the way we might decide to work together may integrate elements of different types of approaches. Sometimes what is needed is to consult with other professionals (such as in a school) or undertake specialist, structured assessments (such as around cognitive ability).
I have significant experience supporting children and young people aged 5 to 18 yrs and their families. This includes children with long term illnesses (including Type 1 Diabetes and Epilepsy), disabilities and neurodevelopmental presentations.
