PgDip Counselling MBACP
Hello and welcome to Salus Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I chose the name Salus as she was the Roman goddess of health and wellbeing - a fierce woman with a great ethos!
As a pluralistic counsellor I tailor therapy to each client in a person-centred way. This means that our initial session would involve us getting to know each other, along with discussing what has brought you to therapy and any goals you may have. Together we will decide on the best way to work together, whether that be classical talking therapy or using creative tools for instance, you lead the way in your therapy with my support.
Pluralistic means that I am open to many different ways of working together, for example some of my previous clients have requested CBT influenced coping techniques to use outside of our sessions, whilst others have used story writing (an aspect of narrative therapy) to work through their issues. If it is within my training remit I am happy to give it a go!
I am experienced in pre-trial therapy, for those going through the court system. This type of therapy is guided by the Crown Prosecution Service and means that we have to work in a particular way which can be discussed in our initial session.
I have recently graduated from York St John university and am about to begin my year long Masters in counselling research. I have an interest in pre-trial therapy and hope to research the effects of this type of counselling on both the therapist and the client.
I work with both short and long term clients with a range of issues, from stress and anxiety or talking through decision making to childhood sexual abuse, domestic abuse and gender dysphoria.
I believe that everybody needs a space to be able to talk freely without judgement or shame. I hope that I can provide that space for you.
